NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR
I wrote the account of my long-term caregiving for an Alzheimer's
patient for a number of reasons, one of which was to share our
experience in complete detail in the hope that present or potential
family caregivers might benefit by our journey, and perhaps it would
make their road a little easier. Another reason for writing was to
introduce the reading public to a very unique human being who also
happened to be an Alzheimer's patient. This lady, my mother,
Bernice Buchanan, was a most joyful person who understood love
and its value in the human condition.
The disease never did break her Spirit. Our eleven-year journey had
its hard times for sure, but we had an abundance of Love and
Laughter also, and those gifts helped us weather the storms of
the disease.
Please let me know your feelings about the book.
I believe you will enjoy and benefit from the story.
Any messages can be sent through the

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER

Clarior Press published
"Taking Care of Mother, Taking Care of  Me"
by Heydon Buchanan on March 8, 2006.

Elder health care and elder care in general are issues which affect us
all sooner or later. With the increase in human longevity,
Alzheimer's disease--not to mention the other forms of dementia,
senility, and memory loss--is growing at a rapid rate, even faster
than the Alzheimer's Association had predicted. And, many of us
have the hands-on experience of caregiving for an elderly parent.
While women have traditionally filled the family caregiver's role,
men are increasingly taking up the task of caregiver for a disabled
family member. Subsequently, the ratio of men-to-women
caregivers has been changing at a rapid pace, and personal accounts
of male family caregivers are needed. At Clarior Press, we believe it
important to present this very candid and  comprehensive account
of such caregiving.
We look forward to hearing your responses concerning the book..
We believe the story to be exceptional and with benefits far beyond
handling the disease itself.
If you have any suggestions concerning this book or other material
to provide help for caregivers,
please write to us through the
contact us page.
